Welcome Days 2012 SatCo Classes

Welcome Days SatCo is open new students and is part of their welcome to the campus and to the community. The SatCo classes will be on Saturday, August 25, and students will register on their New Student Checklists. Currently proposals are being accepted for Welcome Days 2012.

Visit West Side Market With Undergraduate Student Government!
Presented by Undergraduate Student Government 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. Meet in Thwing Atrium
Stroll through aisles of Cleveland's famous West Side Market with members of Case's Undergraduate Student Government. As you browse the wonderful displays of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, pastries, and flowers, learn about what this exciting and crucial campus organization is all about.

Broomball with RHA
Presented by Residence Hall Association 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Meet in Thwing Atrium
Missing the air conditioning? Come cool off with the Residence Hall Association. We'll be heading to the Cleveland Heights Community Center for an afternoon of broomball. Don't know how to play? No worries, we're learning too!

Spartan XC
Presented by Cross-Country 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. Meet at the Veale Center
Come run with the Cross Country team at Ambler Park (the meadow) and enjoy playing Frisbee and cooking out, taking in the beautiful Cleveland scenery. If you ran in high school and have not thought about it for college, come out, meet the team, and learn some more about our program! If you did not run in high school we would love to have you is well. Anyone is welcome.

Sparta! Sun, Sand & S'cream
Presented by Newman Catholic Student Association 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. Meet in Thwing Atrium
Not far from campus is a state beach little known to most CWRU students, with a very popular branch of a local ice cream sensation called Honey Hut, only open in the summer. Catch some rays, body surf or stroll by Lake Erie - and get a cone or sundae - while seeing the coastal side of Cleveland!

Spirit 101!
Presented by CWRU Cheerleaders 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. TBA
Come join the Spartan Cheerleaders as they get ready for the start of a new season. The session involves learning cheers and dances, along with basic cheerleading review.

Biomedical Engineering Laboratory Tours
Presented by Case Biomedical Engineering Society 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Meet in Thwing Atrium
Get an inside look at the cutting-edge biomedical research going on at Case. Several faculty members will be opening up their labs and giving demonstrations of their research. Current BME students will be on hand to answer questions about choosing a specialty track, selecting classes, securing research positions, and getting involved on campus through BMES.

Four Words and Singing
Presented by Voices of Glory Gospel Choir 1:30 – 4:00 p.m.
House 7 Great Room Come hang out with Case's only Gospel Choir - Voices of Glory! After a time of food and fellowship, everyone will join a smaller group and create a song, gospel or not, that specifically includes the 4 words given. Each group will share their song with the others which will account for a great time of singing and laughing. NO AUDITIONS OR CHOIR EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Once you meet us, you won't ever want to leave us!

A Day of Demos
Presented by Alpha Chi Sigma: Professional Chemistry Fraternity 1:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Hovorka Atrium Join the members of Alpha Chi Sigma, the professional chemistry fraternity, for an afternoon filled with those fun demonstrations from science class that you loved so much. We will venture downtown to the Great Lakes Science Center to participate in our most common service event held throughout the year.

TASA Green Onion Pancake Making
Presented by Taiwanese American Student Association 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. House 6 Great Room
Come join TASA to learn about Taiwan and how to make your own delicious green onion pancakes, a common food enjoyed in Taiwan and other Asian countries. If you would like to learn more and try to make these pancakes, come to our SatCo. Do not worry if you do not know how to make them as we will have TASA members helping you along the way.

Fear Factor: Blind Edition

Think you got what it takes to win Fear Factor?! Come to this SatCo to test all your senses- EXCEPT for sight- in a fun-filled obstacle course extravaganza. Show off your talents and win awesome prizes along the way! Plus, meet the newest executive board of Case for Sight, Case's only vision advocacy organization!

Set Cuyahoga on Fire...Again!
Presented by Case Crew Club 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Meet in Thwing Atrium
You think the Cuyahoga is a flammable river? You're right, because the Case Crew team is burning it up with sheer power, speed, and awesomeness. Come check out our NEW boathouse, Rivergate Park on the Cuyahoga River along with the Flats district of Cleveland and see what rowing is all about. Don't bring matches - that's what your oars are for.

West Side Market with the Footlightes, Case's Musical Theater Group
Presented by The Case Footlighters 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. Meet at the statue between Raymond and Sherman Houses
Join the Footlighters for a trip to Cleveland's famous West Side Market. Hang out and get to know the group while exploring one of the city's oldest publicly owned marketplaces. We will be taking the Rapid downtown, so make sure you bring your RTA pass as well as your Case ID card!
