Copying Text from Microsoft Word
In some cases, you may find it easier to paste text directly from a Microsoft Word document. However, if you copy and paste text directly from Microsoft Word, the Online Editor Tool (OET) will not recognize the formatting and match the font that we use on our website. As a result, you will need to reformat your text so it displays correctly.
To strip out Microsoft Word formatting, follow these instructions:
Step 1: Using Microsoft Word, open the Word document that contains the text you want to include on your website. Highlight the selected text with your mouse, then copy and paste it into the online editing window. Once you paste it into the editing window, it will automatically strip out your Word formatting.
Step 2: Look for the Format Stripper button on the top row of the button panel. (The Format Stripper looks like a paintbrush on top of a document, with a drop-down box next to it.) Once you hover your mouse over the button, you will see the words "Format Stripper."
From the drop-down menu, choose "Span." (Once you select Span, you will notice a slight change in the text you pasted into the window. The tool will insert additional space between the lines.) Re-work the page by adding in paragraphs, headline fonts, bolded text, and more.
