Site Organization

This section describes the organization of the sites on the student affairs server.

Departments

Departments will be rooted in a top-level directory of the student affairs site and may be organized as a "simple" site with two levels of navigation or use departmental sections.

The advertising address for the department is studentaffairs.case.edu followed by the department directory. For example:

  • studentaffairs.case.edu/athletics
  • studentaffairs.case.edu/civicengagement
  • studentaffairs.case.edu/thwing

Some departments retain legacy vanity site names which may be used in advertising materials, though the divisional address is preferred to highlight the identity of the division. New vanity site names will not be created. For example:

  • careercenter.case.edu -> studentaffairs.case.edu/careers
  • ess.case.edu -> studentaffairs.case.edu/education
  • housing.case.edu -> studentaffairs.case.edu/living

Departments can select a theme color for their site from a list of approved color schemes. This color is used for headlines, highlights, and other navigational elements. Two departments cannot share a color unless they are related in some way.

The name of the department will appear in the legend of each page directly underneath the Case logo. Clicking on the department name will always bring users to the home page for the department.

Events

Major events will be hosted at a second-level directory under "/events" and may only be organized as a simple site with no sections. Events are essentially considered sections of the "events" department. Events will be listed alphabetically in the common event navigation.

Each event will have a vanity web address to be used in advertising materials. The web address will be studentaffairs.case.edu followed by the name of the event's directory. For example:

  • studentaffairs.case.edu/familyweekend -> studentaffairs.case.edu/events/familyweekend
  • studentaffairs.case.edu/homecoming -> studentaffairs.case.edu/events/homecoming
  • studentaffairs.case.edu/studyover -> studentaffairs.case.edu/events/studyover

An event that is wholly sponsored by a single department will use that department's theme color.

The word "events" will appear in the legend of each page directly underneath the Case logo. Clicking on "events" will always bring visitors back to the list of events on the site. The individual event name will appear directly to the right of "events." Clicking on the name of the event will bring visitors back to the home page for the event.

Groups

Dependent groups will be hosted at a second-level directory under "/groups" and may only be organized as a simple site. Groups are essentially considered sections of the "groups" department. Groups will be listed alphabetically in the common group navigation.

Each group will be given a vanity web address to be used in advertising materials. The web address will be studentaffairs.case.edu followed by the name of the group's directory. For example:

  • studentaffairs.case.edu/aiboard -> studentaffairs.case.edu/groups/aiboard
  • studentaffairs.case.edu/mediaboard -> studentaffairs.case.edu/groups/mediaboard
  • studentaffairs.case.edu/pdc -> studentaffairs.case.edu/groups/pdc

Some groups retain legacy vanity site names which may be used in advertising materials. New vanity site names will not be created.

  • rha.case.edu -> studentaffairs.case.edu/groups/rha
  • nrhh.case.edu -> studentaffairs.case.edu/groups/nrhh

A group that is wholly sponsored by a single department will use that department's theme color.

The word "groups" will appear in the legend of each page directly underneath the Case logo. Clicking on "groups" will always bring visitors back to the list of groups on the site. The individual group name will appear directly to the right of "groups." Clicking on the name of the group will bring visitors back to the home page for the group.

Programs

Programs will be hosted at a second-level directory under "/programs" and may only be organized as a simple site. Programs are essentially considered sections of the "programs" department. Programs will be listed alphabetically in the common program navigation.

Each program will be given a vanity web address to be used in advertising materials. The web address will be studentaffairs.case.edu followed by the name of the program's directory. For example:

  • studentaffairs.case.edu/emerging -> studentaffairs.case.edu/programs/emerging
  • studentaffairs.case.edu/print2here -> studentaffairs.case.edu/programs/print2here

A program that is wholly sponsored by a single department will use that department's theme color.

The word "programs" will appear in the legend of each page directly underneath the Case logo. Clicking on "programs" will always bring visitors back to the list of programs on the site. The individual program name will appear directly to the right of "programs." Clicking on the name of the program will bring visitors back to the home page for the program.

Awards

Awards will be hosted at a second-level directory under "/awards" and may only be organized as a simple site. Programs are essentially considered sections of the "awards" department. Awards will be listed alphabetically in the common awards navigation.

Each award will be given a vanity web address to be used in advertising materials. The web address will be studentaffairs.case.edu followed by the name of the awards directory. For example:

  • studentaffairs.case.edu/jackson -> studentaffairs.case.edu/awards/jackson
  • studentaffairs.case.edu/whoswho -> studentaffairs.case.edu/awards/whoswho
  • studentaffairs.case.edu/wittke -> studentaffairs.case.edu/awards/wittke

An award that is wholly sponsored by a single department will use that department's theme color.

The word "awards" will appear in the legend of each page directly underneath the Case logo. Clicking on "awards" will always bring visitors back to the list of awards on the site. The individual award name will appear directly to the right of "awards." Clicking on the name of the award will bring visitors back to the home page for the award.
