Discussion Boards
From Wikipedia: A discussion board is an online discussion site. It
originated as the modern equivalent of a traditional bulletin board, and a
technological evolution of the dialup bulletin board system. From a
technological standpoint, forums or boards are web applications managing
user-generated content.
The "closest resource" doctrine applies in establishing a
discussion board:
1. Student Affairs Resources
Discussion forum functionality is available on the Division of Student Affairs website
through our Community Server software. The discussion boards themselves are
hosted in a separate section of the site, but a summary of recent activity can
be embedded in an individual site, as well.
Note: We are currently trying to eliminate our use of Community Server on the
site due to increased licensing costs. It will remain available while an
alternative is being examined.
2. University Resources
forum.case.edu provides discussion board
functionality for anyone with a Case ID and password. It is possible to
establish private boards, if necessary, but most are open. Because anonymous
posting is permitted, many times the discussion is dominated by unrelated
conversations.
Due to uncertain institutional resources to support this service, we are not
currently supporting its use.
3. Partner Resources
Not available.
4. Other Resources
Not required or permitted.
