Video Sharing
The "closest resource" doctrine applies when sharing videos:
1. Student Affairs Resources
Individual videos produced by departments, programs, or groups can be hosted
directly in their web page on the student affairs server. Player functionality
is fully-integrated into the site, including highlight coloring to match the overall look and feel of their site.
2. University Resources
Case.TV hosts streaming videos of campus
events which are recorded by MediaVision. Movies are offered in Windows Media
format, which limits their accessibility. More information is available from
casetv@case.edu.
Videos can be linked from the student affairs site, but not embedded into
sites at this time.
This resource is most useful for long, live events recorded with professional camera
equipment. It is not appropriate for general-purpose short or edited videos.
3. Partner Resources
Case has an official YouTube channel.
This channel would be appropriate for groups creating a large number of
videos that are expected to have wide distribution, with less concern about
having the video hosted on campus.
Individual videos can be directly embedded into student affairs sites. Groups
that post multiple videos may obtain a playlist, which can be linked from the
student affairs site using a special icon in the page legend. This link would
show a list of videos produced by that group.
4. Other Resources
Not required or permitted.
