Internet Service
In order to effectively work from home, you will need reliable
high-speed internet access. Luckily, high-speed access is inexpensive
and readily available.
If you already have cable TV service in your home, cable Internet service is
inexpensive and easy to deploy. Service can be activated at any location in
your home with a cable TV jack. Cable service is slightly more expensive than
DSL, but usually offers better performance.
Through a partnership between Case and Time Warner Cable, faculty and staff of Case Western Reserve University are eligible for a discount on their Road Runner High Speed Internet access in their homes.
A digital subscriber line (DSL) is a great alternative if you don't have
cable TV service. Service is carried over your existing telephone line and can
be activated at any location in your home with a telephone jack. DSL service is highly affordable, although cable service is often
faster. DSL also can be more difficult to deploy in your home. It is available to
almost anyone with a telephone line, which makes it very accessible.
