TRIO PROGRAMS

Providing educational opportunities for middle-school and high-school students

Welcome to the TRIO Programs at Case Western Reserve University. Two federal pre-college TRIO Programs, Upward Bound and Talent Search, comprise this department in the Division of Student Affairs. We invite you to learn more about our programs and invite the participation of eligible participants.

Upward Bound is the oldest of the pre-college programs having been established in 1966. Talent Search, now in its fifth year at the University, was first funded in 1998. The TRIO programs office was officially established in November 1998, administratively placing these programs under one umbrella.

We are committed to providing access to postsecondary education to low-income and potential first generation college secondary school students, beginning at the sixth grade through the 12th grade. Through services provided by our programs, which include academic assistance, counseling and advising, academic instruction, tutoring, college planning and placement assistance, cultural activities, internships, community services opportunities, and career exposure during the summer and the school year, we aim to increase the number of individuals obtaining a four year college degree.
