Upward Bound Application

To participate in the Upward Bound program, you must be:

  • Low-income
  • First-Generation (neither parent with whom you live has a four-year college degree)
  • Student at high risk for academic failure
  • A US citizen, national or permanent resident (must have a green card)
  • Age 13-19 (grades 9-11 at the time of selection). 8th graders are eligible to apply.
  • Attending or planning to enroll in one of the following Cleveland schools: Collinwood High School, East Technical High School, East High School, or John F. Kennedy High School

Services Provided

  • Enrichment Instruction (Saturday classes during Academic School Year)
  • Counseling (Personal, Academic, and Career)
  • Tutoring
  • Workshops
  • College Planning and Placement (College Visits, Applying for College Admissions and Financial Aid, etc.)
  • Cultural Activities (Plays, Field Trips, etc.)
  • SAT/ACT and PSAT Review
  • Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) preparation
  • Six-Week Summer Residential Program (June and July)
